Aarhus

Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, boasts a population of approximately 300,000. Its vibrant culture is largely influenced by the city’s significant student population of around 50,000.

Aarhus is an old city but still young at heart! Founded over 1,200 years ago by the Vikings as an open trading post at the mouth of the river, Aarhus is now a hub of education and culture. The city’s atmosphere is a delightful mix of small-town charm and dynamic urban life, making visitors feel both welcomed and at home. Scattered around the city you will find many restaurants, bars and cafes, many of which are located at the river and suited for all kinds of budgets.

Aarhus is truly a remarkable destination, offering numerous attractions such as the open-air museum "The Old Town”, the ARoS art museum, Marselisborg Castle (King Frederik X’s summer residence) and Moesgaard Museum. Discover the city’s delights for yourself; most attractions are within walking distance. Aarhus is a city where every wish can be fulfilled amidst fascinating and inspiring surroundings.
Ideally situated on the bay, fringed by beaches, forests and lush scenery, yet bustling with life, Aarhus provides an inspiring setting for the conference.

One of Aarhus’ major attractions is the open-air museum Den Gamle By (“The Old Town”). This unique site offers a fascinating journey back in time. The museum, which has been awarded the maximum three stars by the Michelin Travel Guide, features costumed actors portraying life in the late 19th century and shows how people lived and worked in 1927. Visitors can also explore a reconstructed 1970’s Danish town district, complete with streets, townhouses, shops, backyards and workshops, all recreated as they were in the past.
